My sister and I, had a magical 3 days in the horse drawn caravan, both on Polly’s land (which is idyllic) and out on the road. The surroundings of Alton Priors are wonderful, there are the downs with the White Horse carved out of the chalk-land, the sacred springs (source of The Avon), the thatched cottages, the Saxon church with The Goddess Stone under the floorboards, the canal, the village pubs, generous and hospitable, Polly in her lovely cottage, her characterful dogs, Ned the Grey Cob steadily pulling the caravan, and the campfire in Dingly Dell, just bliss.
We were so lucky to have found this place, just loved it.
I surprised my wife with this, for our honeymoon. She absolutely loved it, as did I. It is the perfect mini break that lets you unwind, relax and live life at a slower pace.
It is perfect for people who are passionate about horses and families. If you don’t have any experience with horses, then don’t worry, as full training and instruction is given.
Fantastic pub grub is available at lunch and dinner time. In the morning, there is an opportunity to cook your breakfast on an open camp fire. The people are friendly and welcoming, and our horse Ned, was gentle and sweet.
